NATIONAL POETRY DAY: OCTOBER

Its raining
Suddenly and then its over
The sheep are bewildered
The view is blurred
The sea is hot

We swim under lightning sky
Droplets fall hard on to the surface
We’re going to get in trouble
Especially because its night time

Fog

You said when you arrive in a new place
Eat the honey
And drink the water
This way you acclimatize

It smells good
The freshness of the grass and water
Mud

The rain is moving on
The sea is unaffected
Still not sparkling

Ochre
Grey
White
Black

I’m listening out for the cascade
Its reassuring swash
Available to the available
From a hole in the highland

You fall
